Renew Hospice

What is Hospice?

The philosophy of hospice is simple and compelling: By managing symptoms and controlling pain, our patients and their family have the opportunity to enjoy the highest quality of life on every level: physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual for as long as they have.

Symptom Management

Symptom management helps individuals who are nearing the end of their life manage their pain and other symptoms and maintain their dignity and comfort. Our team of nurses and other healthcare professionals who specialize in palliative care, focuse on managing pain and symptoms associated with serious illnesses. We help individuals manage pain, shortness of breath, nausea, fatigue, and other symptoms, using a combination of medications, therapies, and other interventions. We also provide education and support to families and caregivers on how to manage symptoms and provide comfort to their loved one. By providing effective symptom management, we help individuals and their loved ones find relief from the physical and emotional burdens of serious illness, and support them in living as fully and comfortably as possible during this period of life.

Emotional Support

Emotional support is a critical component of hospice care, as it helps individuals and their loved ones cope with the complex and often overwhelming emotions that arise during the end-of-life process. Our team of social workers, counselors, and other mental health professionals who provide emotional support and counseling to individuals and their families. They help individuals process their feelings of grief, loss, anxiety, and depression, and provide practical guidance on how to cope with these emotions. We also help families and caregivers understand and navigate the emotional challenges of caring for a loved one who is dying. Emotional support in hospice is designed to help individuals and their loved ones find a sense of peace, acceptance, and meaning during this difficult time, and to help them connect with the support and resources they need to cope with their feelings and experiences.

Spiritual Support

Spiritual support is an important aspect of hospice care, as it provides comfort, solace, and meaning to individuals and their loved ones during this often emotional time. Spiritual support can take many forms, such as prayer, meditation, or simply providing a listening ear and a supportive presence. Our hospice chaplains and other spiritual caregivers help individuals explore their beliefs, values, and fears, and can provide guidance and support in navigating the spiritual and emotional challenges that often arise at the end of life. We also work with families and caregivers to help them understand and support their loved one's spiritual needs and preferences. By addressing the spiritual dimensions of end-of-life care, we help individuals and their loved ones find peace, comfort, and a sense of connection and meaning during this important time.

Who Qualifies for Hospice?

Hospice is a type of healthcare that focuses on providing compassionate care and support to individuals who are nearing the end of their life. It is designed to improve the quality of life for individuals who are experiencing a terminal illness, and to provide support to their loved ones during this difficult time.

To qualify for hospice care, an individual must have a life expectancy of six months or less, as determined by a physician. This can include individuals who are suffering from advanced stages of cancer, heart disease, lung disease, dementia, or other serious illnesses. Hospice care is typically provided in the individual's home, although it can also be provided in a hospice facility, nursing home, or hospital.

In addition to a life expectancy of six months or less, individuals must also meet certain other criteria to qualify for hospice care. They must have a desire to receive hospice care, and they must agree to forego curative treatment for their illness. Hospice care is focused on managing pain and symptoms, improving quality of life, and providing emotional and spiritual support to the individual and their loved ones. It is a compassionate and holistic approach to end-of-life care, designed to support individuals in their final days with dignity and respect.
